DUSU Election Result 2026 LIVE Updates: Counting of votes underway; ABVP ahead in 2 posts after 1st round

The first round of voting for the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) polls concluded on Saturday, with the RSS-affiliated All India Student Union (ABVP) emerging as the frontrunner in two critical positions: president and secretary. Independent candidates held a slight lead in the Vice-President and Joint Secretary posts, with the Congress-backed National Students Union of India (NSUI) and the Left alliance of AISA-SFI trailing closely.

The final outcome of the elections, which hold particular importance following recent student protests over alleged paper leaks, will determine the composition of the DUSU panel for the 2026-27 academic year. Voter turnout reached 39.77 percent in the elections, which utilized 1,000 electronic voting machines, of which 960 were utilized on the polling day.

Following the completion of the voting process, the police transferred the EVMs to the Multipurpose Hall, where they are currently undergoing the counting procedure. The presence of police personnel, paramilitary forces, and additional security measures, including foot patrols and motorcycle teams, has been heightened across the campuses to ensure a smooth and secure voting process.

As the voting results continue to unfold, the university has imposed traffic restrictions, which will remain in effect until the official declaration of the final results.
