Cops, MCMC must probe alleged insult to Rukun Negara in viral video, says minister

National Unity Minister Aaron Ago Dagang has called for a comprehensive investigation into a stage performance that allegedly insulted the Rukun Negara, the Malay rulers, and Malaysia itself. The production, which featured actors telling one another to 'go back' to China, India and Indonesia, was posted on social media and has since gone viral.

Aaron emphasized that such behavior is irresponsible, excessive, and unacceptable, stressing that freedom of expression should not be used to belittle national institutions or provoke division. Religious Affairs Minister Zulkifli Hasan echoed the sentiment, stating that the performance was a breach of proper conduct and a social wrongdoing that undermined the nation's social harmony.

He urged the organizers to issue a public apology and called for a thorough investigation and legal action against any party responsible for the insult. Aaron concluded by urging all parties, including artists, content creators, and social media users, to exercise their freedom responsibly and avoid exploiting moral values for personal gain.
