California scores 6 TDs and racks up 600-plus yards in dominant 49-7 win over Wagner

Berkeley, California witnessed an emphatic 49-7 victory by the Golden Bears over Wagner on Saturday. Quarterback Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele set a new career-high with 413 passing yards and three touchdowns. The Golden Bears dominated the game, scoring six touchdowns and accumulating 626 total yards.

Eight of the team’s 11 scoring drives yielded points, while Wagner managed just 10 first downs. Sagapolutele, whose previous career-high was 337 yards in a loss to Hawaii, had 358 yards in the first half. He threw for all three touchdowns before exiting the game midway through the third quarter.

Running back Adam Mohammed, who transferred from Washington, scored three touchdowns in the first quarter, including a 65-yard run on a screen pass. Mohammed's three touchdowns tied his single-game record. Kyion Grayes and Cooper Perry both secured their first collegiate touchdowns with receptions.

In terms of defense, linebacker Aaron Hampton blocked Wagner’s 32-yard field goal attempt in the fourth quarter, preventing any additional points for the Seahawks. Wagner managed one score on a 65-yard drive late in the first quarter, but their lone touchdown was insufficient to challenge the Golden Bears' impressive performance.

Cal coach Tosh Lupoi praised his quarterback’s leadership and preparation, highlighting how crucial both factors are to the team's overall performance. The Golden Bears' ability to limit mistakes and capitalize on opportunities played a significant role in their dominating win over Wagner.
