Caden Pinnick throws 2 TD passes, runs for one and Washington State beats Duquesne 48-7 for 1st win

Pullman, Wash (AP) — Caden Pinnick delivered his first two touchdown passes of the season and added a rushing touchdown to propel Washington State to a 48-7 rout of Duquesne on Saturday, marking the Cougars' first victory. The Cougars (1-2) dominated the Championship Subdivision foes (0-3) by a 14-7 halftime score. Pinnick connected on an 11-yard TD pass to Jack Pedersen and a 10-yard TD pass to Braden Ganashamoorthy in the third quarter, adding another 21 points after halftime.

Kirby Vorhees contributed a 58-yard TD run late in the third quarter. Tank Hawkins and Maxwell Woods each scored a touchdown on punt returns in the final quarter. Woods rushed for 116 yards and Vorhees added 109 yards with two touchdowns. Pinnick completed 196 yards and had one interception. Carson Camp scored the lone touchdown for Duquesne, tying the game in the first quarter.

The Dukes' offense was limited to just 180 yards against WSU's 512. WSU had only scored 17 points in their opening-season losses to Washington and Kansas State. Duquesne will play at Rio Grande (Ohio) next Saturday, while Washington State will face Arizona on Saturday.
