Barapullah Phase 3 set for Sep 29 inauguration

The Barapullah Phase 3 project, an ambitious infrastructure development in Delhi, is set to officially commence on September 29, according to PWD Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta are anticipated to be present at the event. This phase of the project aims to enhance connectivity between East and South Delhi by offering uninterrupted movement between Mayur Vihar Phase 1 and AIIMS.

The new flyover will link seamlessly with the existing Barapullah flyover at Sarai Kale Khan, extending the total length to approximately 9 kilometers. Singh emphasized the project's innovative approach, noting it will be the first flyover corridor in India to incorporate a dedicated cycle track, promoting environmentally friendly and sustainable mobility for Delhi residents.

The construction will also incorporate pedestrian-friendly infrastructure and contemporary urban design elements, contributing to a landmark in urban infrastructure development.

The Barapullah Phase 3 project received approval in 2014, with construction commencing in 2015. However, due to various delays, completion was initially projected for 2017, resulting in significant cost increases that have now been estimated at around Rs 1,635 crore. Officials confirmed that the construction of both ramps of the elevated corridor is now complete, with one ramp originating from the Mayur Vihar side and the other extending from the existing corridor near Sarai Kale Khan.

Additionally, the project has included the completion of an extra-dosed bridge across the Yamuna, which will serve as the connecting structure for the elevated corridor.
