The 20th Asian Games are set to commence in Nagoya, with the Opening Ceremony slated to showcase the Indian contingent led by athletes Manu Bhaker and Pawan Sehrawat. Organizers of the Aichi-Nagoya Games have been criticized for a series of operational issues and logistical challenges leading up to the Games. In a last-minute adjustment, Pawan Sehrawat will now serve as the male flagbearer for India, replacing Tajinderpal Singh Toor.

Toor was unable to attend the opening ceremony due to not receiving his official kit. Quimcy D'Souza, competing in the women's table tennis event, suffered a setback as a win would have secured India's first medal. However, she is determined to aim for the bronze medal in the upcoming round.
