A different level of bitterness – Itz Tiffany slams critics who jubilated over Box Bar demolition

Ghanaian singer Itz Tiffany has voiced her discontent towards individuals who relished the demolition of her Box Bar at Laboma Beach. She accused them of possessing "witchcraft traits" in a September 18 post on X. Tiffany found it amusing to watch people rejoice over the misfortune of others, stating, "And it’s funny watching people jump into comment sections to jubilate over someone else’s downfall."

She elaborated that "Me nim sɛ ɛkɔm yɛ ya, but being genuinely happy to see another person lose something they worked hard to build is a different level of bitterness. Witchcraft traits."

Tiffany clarified that her initial remarks on Hitz FM were misconstrued, and some critics inundated her with abusive messages. She insisted that the businesses had not ignored the 21-day notice to vacate and had engaged the Assembly to seek a resolution. Tiffany lamented that the businesses had faced losses despite the 21-day window and the subsequent absence of any decisive action.

She expressed her frustration, saying, "If demolition was still the final decision, simply tell us to pack up and leave. That is the point. The 21 days passed and nothing happened. If the authorities later decided demolition was still going ahead, another simple communication telling businesses to vacate and remove their belongings could have prevented so much loss. That is my frustration."

Tiffany stressed that her objection was not to development. "My rant was never about saying development shouldn’t happen. My point was simple: if businesses were ultimately going to be demolished, give people the opportunity to remove their property. And considering the circumstances and the losses suffered, I asked the government to consider compensation."

The Post-Flood Mitigation Taskforce led the demolition of several structures, including Tiffany's Box Bar, at Laboma Beach as part of a project to reclaim the protected buffer zone of the Kpeshie Lagoon and restore natural drainage channels in Greater Accra. This action followed a directive issued by the authorities on August 7 for the removal of structures encroaching on waterways and their buffer zones.
