Yankees slugger Aaron Judge to miss most or all of rest of regular season with a right calf strain

New York Yankees prove they remain a formidable force in baseball despite the absence of star player Aaron Judge, who may miss the remainder of the season due to a strained calf. In a 9-2 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday, the Yankees showcased their resilience, led by their formidable pitching staff. Starting pitcher Gerrit Cole delivered a standout performance, marking a significant improvement from his previous struggles.

Cole, now considered a frontrunner for the 2023 Cy Young Award, struck out batters and limited hits, allowing just two runs over six innings. Additionally, the team displayed remarkable depth and composure, with players like Ben Rice leading the charge at the plate. Rice, who has already homered 39 times this season, added another to his repertoire, contributing to the team's 94 RBI total.

Meanwhile, rookie shortstop George Lombard showcased his defensive skills and offensive prowess by hitting a home run and making an impressive play. The Yankees' manager, Aaron Boone, emphasized the team's unwavering confidence and preparedness, stating that the players have consistently risen to challenges throughout the season.

Despite the loss of their marquee player, the Yankees remain optimistic about their postseason prospects, acknowledging their strong roster and dominant pitching. As Judge prepares to potentially join the team as a spectator, the focus remains on their dominant pitching and their determination to compete deep into the postseason.
