World of Warcraft: Forever's beta is a laggy hell for some EU players (and yours truly), but there is a workaround

I have been testing the beta of World of Warcraft: Forever, but my experience has been less than ideal. Launch-day queue issues aside, there is more to the problem. As it turns out, Blizzard has not taken EU-region players into consideration for beta testing. Forever's servers are located in the US, which is not a major issue for me as I am prepared to play on a high ping during the beta.

However, logging in and experiencing a ping of 300, which suddenly spikes to 2000, and then getting disconnected is a different story. The solution to this problem is to use a VPN. Once I connected my VPN to a US region, my ping dropped to a cozy 100, and I no longer had any disconnection issues. Other EU players who were experiencing the same problems confirmed that using a VPN fixed their connection as well.

However, the EU WoW Forever beta forums are filled with understandable outrage. Players are questioning why they should need a VPN just to get a playable connection to a game they already paid €60 for.
