Vikrant Massey to open two Musafir Cafe-inspired cafés in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand after Netflix series

A series-starring actor is set to bring two cafés to life in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, according to a report. The cafés will be inspired by Vikrant Massey's Netflix series, Musafir Cafe, and are being developed by his production house, Homemade Stories. Construction is reportedly already underway at both sites. Each café will feature approximately 20 artist residency rooms, adding a unique element to the real-world establishments.

The cafés are being designed to closely resemble the one seen in the series, rather than merely using the Musafir Cafe name. Musafir Cafe follows the story of Chander, a man who moves to the hills and finds solace in a café that becomes integral to his new life. The series, adapted from a novel, was partly filmed at Jharipani Castle in Mussoorie and has since attracted fans interested in the real-world setting.

Massey, who had previously expressed interest in opening a café, will make his debut as a producer for this project. The idea for the cafés was conceived while Massey was also planning to open one in various locations, including Dharamkot, Dharamshala, Chamba, and Kufri in Himachal Pradesh, where his wife is from. The artist residency rooms in the real-life cafés reflect the theme of the series, which revolves around artists finding a space to reset and reinvent themselves.
