U Mobile Named Malaysia’s Best Mobile Network And Fastest 5G By Ookla, Most Reliable By Opensignal

Malaysia's telecommunications landscape has been shaken up by U Mobile, which has been crowned the best mobile network and the fastest 5G provider by Ookla, as well as the most reliable by Opensignal. This assessment comes from independent evaluations conducted by these telecommunications analytics and network intelligence firms in 2026.

Ookla, a leading telecom analytics company, determined that U Mobile's ULTRA5G achieved the highest Speedtest Connectivity Score of 80.34. This score combines real-world network performance, including speed, web browsing, and video streaming capabilities. In addition, Ookla reported that U Mobile's 5G network boasts the highest 5G speed score of 67.26 and the fastest median 5G download speed in the country, clocking in at 348.73Mbps.

Consequently, U Mobile has been named Malaysia's Best Mobile Network and Malaysia's Fastest 5G Network for the first half of 2026.

Meanwhile, Opensignal, another prominent network intelligence firm, highlighted that U Mobile has been the most significant mover among Malaysian operators. This recognition is built upon the company's performance in the Opensignal Malaysia Mobile Network Experience Report, published earlier in 2026. Opensignal's assessment revealed a substantial improvement in reliability, with U Mobile gaining 99 points, moving it from last place to a joint first.

The mobile analytics company also noted a 12-point increase in U Mobile's consistent quality score, securing the first place outright. Additionally, U Mobile led nationwide in multiple categories, including "Consistent Quality," "Download Speed," "Upload Speed Experience," and "5G Availability." In regional performance, Opensignal credits U Mobile with 51 outright and 64 shared awards, a clean sweep of download speed awards in all regions, and recognition for 5G download speed and 5G availability in every region.
