Two arrested over alleged CSSPS fraud after collecting up to GH¢22,000 for school placement

The Ministry of Education in Ghana has arrested two individuals in connection with alleged fraudulent activities related to the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS). The suspects, 24-year-old Vicentia Appiah Antwi and 18-year-old Suzzy Owusu, were apprehended on September 17, 2026, at the CSSPS Resolution Centre.

They are accused of collecting up to GH¢22,000 from unsuspecting victims under the pretense of securing placement in their preferred Senior High Schools. The arrests came about after a tip-off from the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, who received evidence from two BECE candidates who had been approached by the suspects. Upon reviewing the evidence, Iddrisu directed the security authorities to take action, leading to the arrest of the two individuals.

The suspects have also named two other people as alleged accomplices - Nana Yaw Boateng, a medical doctor at Kwadaso SDA Hospital in Kumasi, and Alex Asumani, also known as Lexus. All three are currently under investigation. The Ministry of Education has warned parents, students, and the public against paying money to those claiming to facilitate school placement, emphasizing that placement through CSSPS is free of charge.

They urge the public to report any suspected cases of fraud or manipulation to the appropriate authorities.
