OAIC Explains How Leaders Under Pressure Can Cope

The Organisation of African Instituted Churches (OAIC) held its 3rd Quarter Regional Executive Committee meeting in Orile-Igbon, Oyo. The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) bloc acknowledged that pressure is a natural part of leadership, but it can also serve as a spur to purposeful leadership. To cope with pressure, leaders must be able to remain faithful, wise, calm, and responsible in difficult circumstances, opposition, uncertainty, or personal challenges.

OAIC President Baba Aladura Israel Akinadewo referenced Matthew 26:31-35 to illustrate the importance of leadership under pressure. Akinadewo used the example of Peter, who denied Jesus Christ despite his earlier confidence, to emphasize that pressure reveals one's true character. Akinadewo, an Associate Professor in Accounting, advised leaders to cultivate their character through prayer, Scripture, discipline, wise counsel, and a strong relationship with God before facing crises.

Delegates from various churches participated in the meeting, which focused on the responsibilities of OAIC in the 2027 general election. The organization vowed to support candidates with the most convincing roadmap in secular politics while maintaining its non-partisanship. OAIC will celebrate its Golden Jubilee in 2027 and plans to hold the 2027 leadership retreat in the United Kingdom. The meeting also called for the government to improve security measures.
