Trump says he is banning CNN, MS NOW and Politico from the White House

This action follows Trump's decision in February 2025 to exclude Associated Press journalists from the Oval Office, Air Force One, and similar events, in response to their refusal to adopt his preferred name for the Gulf of Mexico.

Since his return to office, Trump has initiated legal proceedings against various media outlets, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and the BBC. The president's intention to block White House access for CNN is particularly significant as it could disrupt the customary five-network television pool that accompanies the president and provides independent coverage of his activities and engagements, a vital source of information for American voters and the international community.

The social media announcement did not specify the mechanisms for enforcing the ban. It occurred shortly before Trump engaged with journalists in the Oval Office during a healthcare event. He subsequently intended to escort the press pool to his Virginia golf club for a sponsored meeting and dinner, before retiring to Camp David for the weekend, an exception where journalists are not permitted to accompany him.

Trump asserted on his social media platform that as of this moment, "I am banning" CNN, MSNOW, and Politico "from the White House in response to their frequent 'reporting' of FAKE NEWS!" He emphasized that "Media Outlets should not be allowed to constantly publish or report FICTION and LIES when covering the President of the United States, the Trump Administration, or the United States of America." The statement continued, "Other Fake News Media Outlets to follow."
