Trump says CNN, MS NOW, Politico banned from White House

President Donald Trump announced on Friday that he was banning news outlets CNN, MSNBC (now MS NOW), and Politico from the White House. Trump accused the three media organizations of reporting "fiction and lies" about his administration. He stated that other "Fake News Media Outlets" would face a similar fate, but did not specify which outlets.

The move drew accusations of being unconstitutional and violating the First Amendment. Trump claimed that media outlets should not be able to write or report "false stories" all the time when covering the president and his administration. CNN and MS NOW defended their reporting as fair and accurate, stating that the ban would be an "illegal assault on US press freedom."

Politico vowed to defend its First Amendment rights. This ban marks one of the rare instances of a US president outright barring news outlets from the White House. Trump has a history of criticizing the media and filing defamation suits against news organizations whose coverage displeases him.
