Trump says he is banning CNN, MSNOW and Politico from the White House

President Donald Trump announced on Friday that he is banning CNN, MSNOW, and Politico from having access to the White House, effective immediately. According to Trump, news outlets should not be allowed to constantly publish fiction and lies when covering the President of the United States and the United States of America. At an Oval Office event shortly after his post, Trump said he supports a free press, but believes "you need a fair and honest press."

He described the situation as "sick" and argued that it is wrong for a country to allow people to write purposely negative content. CNN, MSNOW, and Politico responded to the announcement, with each denying that they receive government subsidies and stating their commitment to fair reporting and upholding their First Amendment rights.

White House Correspondents Association President Jacqui Heinrich stated that the president's action is about more than just journalists' rights, as it is also about the American people receiving a full and independent account of the activities, policies, and decisions made by the nation's highest office.
