Sri Ramachandra Institute marks Founder’s Day with awards, home-care launch

On September 18, the Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research (SRIHER) marked its 41st Founder's Day and University Day, as well as the 91st birth anniversary of its founder-chancellor, N.P.V. Ramasamy Udayar. The institution celebrated the occasion by bestowing 38 gold medals upon 28 students for their outstanding academic achievements. Notably, MBBS student S. Abhinaya was awarded four gold medals.

In addition to recognizing student excellence, the institute also honored its 282 employees with cash awards, acknowledging their significant contributions. Among the recipients, K. Balaji Singh, Dean of Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute and Professor of General Surgery, received a lifetime achievement award, as did J.D. Roy Santhosham, Professor of Radiology. Furthermore, Kannan Karthik Kailash, Senior Consultant in Spine and Orthopaedic Surgery, was honored with the Mentoring Excellence Award.

The celebrations also included the inauguration of 'SAHAYA,' a home-care service designed to provide hospital-based healthcare to patients in their own homes. SAHAYA offers a range of services, including nursing, critical care, physiotherapy, chronic disease management, elderly care, and other support following hospital discharge. Chancellor V.R. Venkataachalam officiated the launch of this new initiative.
