South Korea makes Asian Games complaint over Japan warlord ceremony

Argentina is leading the 2026 South American Games in Santa Fe, having claimed 31 gold medals out of a total of 101 medals. They are currently in second place in the medal standings, only behind Brazil's impressive haul of 117 medals. Colombia is close behind with 30 gold medals and 73 total medals. The gold medal tally is what determines the final standings in Olympic-style competitions, not the overall total.

Fernanda Russo, a sport shooter from Córdoba, earned her third consecutive 10m air rifle title, securing Argentina's 31st gold medal. She won the final at the International Shooting Center with a score of 249.1 points. Brazil's Geovana Meyer finished second with 246.7 points, and Peru's Sara Vizcarra took the bronze with 225.5.

Rodrigo Enriquez and Santino Menin won the men's lightweight double sculls in rowing, giving Argentina their 30th gold medal. In swimming, Argentine athletes secured a significant performance with three medals on the final day, making swimming the most successful discipline at the Games. Macarena Ceballos won the 100m breaststroke, setting a South American record of 1:06.8, as well as the 200m breaststroke and 50m breaststroke.

Cecilia Dieleke won the 100m backstroke and shared gold at the 50m backstroke, while Malena Santillán won the 200m backstroke. The women's 4x100m medley relay team, featuring Dieleke, Ceballos, Chain, and Berrino, also won gold.
