Shreyas Iyer Invites Afghanistan Captain Ibrahim Zadran To Join India's Trophy Celebrations After 3-0 Series Sweep | Video

India's Shreyas Iyer demonstrated a touching gesture following the team's 3-0 T20I series victory over Afghanistan. The Indian captain extended an invitation to Afghanistan's skipper Ibrahim Zadran to join the Indian celebration at the trophy ceremony in Delhi on Thursday. As India clinched a 127-run win in the final match at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Iyer received the Friendship Cup during the post-match award.

Instead of celebrating exclusively with his teammates, Iyer called Zadran onto the podium and invited him to partake in the trophy lift. The Indian captain then proceeded to carry the trophy towards the Indian team, who were ready for their victory photo. Iyer ensured that Zadran joined the Indian squad for the photograph, creating a memorable moment of camaraderie between the two teams.

This act of sportsmanship echoed a similar gesture made by India's Ajinkya Rahane during their historic 2018 Test against Afghanistan. Iyer's decision to include Zadran in the celebrations following India's dominant performance, highlighted by Abhishek Sharma's record-breaking 108 and Sanju Samson's 50, added an extra layer of sportsmanship to the series conclusion.
