Majlis Presiden Parti Kesosialist (PH) has reaffirmed its commitment to fighting corruption, expressing strong support for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's stance and the advice given by the Attorney-General Dusuki Mokhtar and Deputy Prime Minister Hannah Yeoh regarding the case of former Prime Minister Najib Razak. The Presidential Council members emphasized that no one should evade the law, and anyone found guilty must serve their sentence according to the law and the Constitution.

Earlier today, the Prime Minister's Department (JPM) announced that Najib has been granted conditional pardon and allowed to serve the remaining six years of his prison term for the SRC International case in his home, provided he pays the full RM50 million fine. The statement, released following a Presidential Council meeting, stated that the council intends to continue its efforts to combat corruption, raise the agenda of reform, and cleanse the country of corruption-related elements and setbacks.

Separately, Barisan Nasional (BN) welcomed the decision of the pardon committee and expressed gratitude and appreciation to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim, who presided over the council's meeting. BN expressed its satisfaction, calmness, and respect for the established procedures and rules. The submission of the petition was made through the appropriate channels, respecting the Agong, the Rulers, the Constitution, and the law.

The conditional pardon granted to Najib will allow him to serve the remaining portion of his six-year prison term for the SRC International case until August 23, 2028. The BHEUU explained that the Agong has granted Najib a conditional pardon following the meeting of the pardon committee, which also included the Attorney-General, the Deputy Prime Minister, and three individuals appointed by the Agong.

Najib, 73, is currently serving a six-year prison term in Kajang Prison after his original 12-year sentence was reduced by half in February 2024. The fine was initially RM210 million, which has been reduced to RM50 million. He was arrested in August 2022 after the Supreme Court rejected his final appeal in the case. By December 2025, Najib is facing charges of abuse of power and embezzlement involving over RM2 billion related to the 1MDB scandal and is requesting clemency.
