Security forces kill 7 terrorists in Balochistan IBOs: state media

Over the past week, Balochistan has experienced a surge in terrorist activities, leading security forces to ramp up their efforts against the threat. According to state media, intelligence-based operations (IBO) conducted in the region have resulted in the death of seven terrorists. The operations took place in two areas - Fateh Ali in Panjgur district, where five of the terrorists were killed, and Dhadar in Kachhi district, where two terrorists were eliminated.

In addition to the fatalities, the operations led to the seizure of a significant amount of weapons and ammunition from the terrorists. However, several other individuals were reported to have been injured during the encounters.

The rise in terrorist attacks in Balochistan has been a cause for concern. In July, there were 83 attacks, but that number increased by seven percent to 89 in August, as reported by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies.

In a related incident on August 31, terrorists affiliated with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) carried out a coordinated assault on the Customs House in Ziarat Cross, Pishin district. In response, security forces acted swiftly, eliminating 10 terrorists and sustaining two of their own in the ensuing clash.

The ongoing threat has not gone unnoticed, with security forces launching multiple operations in recent days. On September 2, troops killed 12 terrorists in Kalat district. Days later, in Kharan and Washuk districts, 2.9 tonnes of explosives were recovered following separate IBOs, and 11 terrorists were eliminated.

Another set of operations on September 4 saw 36 terrorists brought down across Mastung, Quetta, Kalat, and Sibi districts, including thwarting an attack on a police station in Sibi's Bhag area. Most recently, on September 5, seven terrorists were killed during an IBO in the Badrang area of Awaran district.
