Samsung Exynos chipset market share rises to 9% in Q2

Samsung Electronics' Exynos application processors (APs) accounted for 9 percent of global smartphone AP shipments in the second quarter, marking the highest market share since data was first compiled in 2024, according to industry data released on Friday. This figure represented a 2 percentage point increase from the previous quarter and a 3 percentage point rise compared to the same period a year ago, as reported by market researcher Counterpoint Research.

Application processors, often referred to as the "brains" of mobile devices, play a crucial role in handling core computing tasks necessary for operating systems and applications. The growth in Exynos share was attributed to increased shipments across both premium and mid-range smartphones. The flagship Exynos 2600, utilized in Samsung's Galaxy S26 series, contributed significantly to the growth in the premium segment, while Exynos chips integrated in the Galaxy A57 and A37 supported the mid-range segment.

MediaTek, based in Taiwan and renowned for its Dimensity and Helio chipsets utilized in a broad spectrum of smartphones, led the overall market with a 31 percent market share in the second quarter, as the data revealed. Qualcomm, a U.S.-based company producing Snapdragon chipsets, secured the second position with 23 percent market share, while Apple, which designs its own custom silicon, was not specifically mentioned in the data provided.
