Samsung Exynos chipset market share rises to 9% in Q2

Samsung Electronics' Exynos application processors (APs) captured 9% of global smartphone AP shipments in the second quarter, marking its highest share since data tracking began in 2024. This substantial increase of 2 percentage points from the previous quarter and 3 percentage points from a year ago was reported by market researcher Counterpoint Research. Application processors, often referred to as the brain of mobile devices, manage essential computing tasks for operating systems and applications.

The surge in Exynos shipments was observed across both high-end and mid-range smartphones. The flagship Exynos 2600, utilized in Samsung's Galaxy S26 series, significantly contributed to growth in the premium segment. Meanwhile, Exynos chips found in Galaxy A57 and A37 models supported expansion in the mid-range segment.

Taiwan's MediaTek emerged as the market leader with a 31% share in the second quarter, while U.S.-based Qualcomm followed with 23%. Apple, known for designing its own processors, was not part of the market share figures provided by Counterpoint Research.
