Qatar, Russia sign MoU to boost technical ties in tax administration

Doha, Qatar - The governments of Qatar and Russia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance technical cooperation in tax administration. The agreement, signed by Khalifa bin Jassim Al Jaham Al-Kuwari, President of Qatar's General Tax Authority, and Daniil Egorov, Commissioner of Russia's Federal Tax Service, aims to foster mutual understanding and improve tax systems in both nations.

The MoU covers several key areas of mutual interest, including technological advancements, digital transformation strategies, and creating a taxpayer-centered tax administration model. It also seeks to strengthen tax compliance frameworks and develop tax collection and debt management strategies. Additionally, the agreement lays out provisions for the exchange of expertise on tax incentives and future tax policies.

Cooperation under the MoU will involve sharing information and expertise, organizing training programs, seminars, working sessions, and reciprocal visits. Both countries will also implement joint initiatives and projects to share technical expertise and improve staff skills. These collaborative efforts are expected to strengthen institutional capabilities and boost tax administration efficiency in Qatar and Russia.

By signing the MoU, the General Tax Authority in Qatar demonstrated its commitment to expanding international cooperation and incorporating leading experiences and practices. This move aims to further develop Qatar's tax system, enhance its efficiency, and ensure alignment with international standards.
