Qatar, Russia sign tax cooperation MoU

Qatar and Russia have reached an agreement to cooperate on technical matters related to tax administration, enhancing collaboration in the exchange of knowledge and best practices. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Khalifa bin Jassim Al Jaham Al Kuwari, president of Qatar's General Tax Authority, and Daniil Egorov, commissioner of Russia's Federal Tax Service.

The MoU aims to focus on areas such as technological development and digital transformation in tax administration, as well as supporting the creation of a taxpayer-centric tax administration model and strengthening frameworks for tax compliance. Qatar and Russia will also work together to develop strategies for tax collection, debt management, and exchange expertise in tax incentives and future tax policies.

Under the agreement, both countries will share information and technical expertise through the organization of training programs, seminars, working sessions, and reciprocal visits between relevant authorities. They will also explore joint initiatives and projects, and collaborate on developing the skills and technical capabilities of their staff.

The signing of the MoU demonstrates Qatar's commitment to expanding international cooperation and benefiting from international experiences to enhance its tax administration system, ensuring alignment with international standards and evolving practices in tax administration.
