Prabowo hints at another cabinet reshuffle ahead of two-year mark in office

President Prabowo Subianto has hinted at a potential cabinet reshuffle ahead of his two-year tenure in office. However, experts suggest he must consider more than just ministerial changes to boost government performance and tackle public worries. During a recent conversation with senior journalists at his residence in West Java, Prabowo stated that a reshuffle at the two-year mark would be logical, given that individuals have had time to demonstrate their abilities.

While admitting the possibility of another reshuffle, Prabowo noted that the current cabinet has performed adequately thus far and that he has been consistently evaluating ministerial performance. He also mentioned that officials might be replaced if they are unsuitable for their positions or entangled in legal issues, including corruption investigations, which his administration would not intervene in.

Prabowo hinted that a future reshuffle could include promotions based on merit. As Prabowo celebrates his second anniversary on the presidency, public support has dropped to 51.1% in July from 81.2% in November of the previous year, alongside diminished faith in the economy, politics, and law enforcement.
