Police calls for stronger community support to fight crime in Jigawa

The Jigawa State Police Commissioner, CP Tijjani Murtala, has urged traditional leaders, religious figures, community leaders, young people and vigilante groups to cooperate more closely with the police in combating crime. This appeal came during the inauguration of a newly upgraded Police Division in the Birniwa Local Government Area, according to a statement by the state's police spokesman, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam.

CP Tijjani emphasized the need for timely and reliable information from the public to help prevent offenses and aid in the apprehension and conviction of suspects. He stressed that community input is crucial for effective policing, particularly in preventing criminal activities. The commissioner also reiterated the police's dedication to intelligence-driven policing, preventative crime measures, swift responses, and close cooperation with other security bodies and stakeholders.

CP Tijjani assured residents across Birniwa, Hadejia and other regions of Jigawa State that the police command is committed to safeguarding lives and property, maintaining public order, and ensuring criminals have no sanctuary within the state.
