Saifuddin Abdullah emphasized the extensive role of meaningful consultation in Islam, extending beyond political and administrative matters. As Secretary-General of the Wawasan Negara Party, he noted that increasing use of consultation practices helps prevent decisions from being influenced by personal bias or authoritarian tendencies, and safeguards individual rights.

The Indera Mahkota MP highlighted that while the concept is sometimes misinterpreted and poorly practiced, it involves more than just collecting opinions and reaching a decision. It incorporates gathering diverse perspectives and considerations before a decision is made, which is a fundamental principle of leadership and governance.

According to Saifuddin, this principle has wide-ranging applications in Islam, not just political or administrative affairs, but also in family and social life. He cited examples from Islamic history of consultation being employed in various decisions, including those related to governance and community affairs. Saifuddin enumerated several benefits of consultation, such as helping to generate accurate decisions and preventing personal bias or authoritarianism.

He also pointed out that well-executed consultation fosters an environment that encourages freedom and participation in decision-making processes. Saifuddin further explained that the process can enhance critical thinking and planning abilities, prepare individuals for action, and provide support for decisions made. Additionally, he stressed that consultation can strengthen relationships among the parties involved and foster a sense of shared responsibility for the outcome, thereby promoting cooperation and unity.
