Pakistan suicide bombing targets police facility in Kohat

On Friday, a bomb attack targeting a police facility in Kohat, Pakistan, located near the Afghan border, resulted in at least 16 deaths, including five police personnel. No militant group immediately claimed responsibility for the explosion, but President Asif Ali Zardari blamed the Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP). The attack damaged a mosque and a police compound, causing extensive rescue efforts.

Initial casualty reports varied, with figures exceeding 50 wounded. The attack occurred while worshippers and civilians were inside the mosque. Subsequently, two other militants attempted to enter the facility. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the cowardly act and directed authorities to expedite rescue operations. The Interior Ministry vowed that such attacks would not weaken the nation's resolve and President Zardari emphasized the need for complete elimination of terrorist activities with foreign backing to ensure national security.

The accusations have heightened tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, resulting in armed conflicts and civilian casualties.
