No evidence links any govt official, NDC member to cocaine probe – Kwakye Ofosu

Government Communications Minister Felix Kwakye Ofosu has denied allegations that government officials or members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) are connected to the cocaine trafficking investigations in Ghana. Speaking on Accra-based Channel One TV, Kwakye Ofosu stated that none of the 10 individuals currently in custody is a government official or NDC member.

He emphasized that authorities have not received any evidence linking any member of the government or the governing party to the alleged narcotics trade. Kwakye Ofosu urged the public to avoid speculation and rumour-mongering without any basis for such claims. He also stressed that political connections would not protect anyone found guilty of participating in the illegal trade, as they would face the same legal processes as anyone else violating Ghanaian law.

The minister stated that the immediate priority is to establish the facts, identify anyone involved, and take appropriate action under Ghanaian law. The government remains focused on strengthening measures to prevent narcotics trafficking through the country's borders.
