Ndindi Nyoro turns Isiolo killings into 2027 attack on Ruto govt

MP Ndindi Nyoro criticized the Kenyan government for its lack of action in addressing the growing insecurity in Isiolo following a deadly bandit attack in Gotu. The incident resulted in the deaths of five people, including two police officers, during a public tour in Isiolo town. Nyoro, leader of the People’s Party of Kenya, condemned the killings and implored national security agencies to strengthen security in the area.

He emphasized that the continuous loss of lives and livestock demonstrates the government's failure to fulfill its constitutional duty to protect Kenyans. Nyoro pointed out that certain individuals within the government were allegedly engaging in livestock theft, contributing to the escalation of banditry in the region. He warned that his opposition party would not stay silent as residents continued to suffer losses of life and livelihoods, declaring, "We will not watch as the people of Isiolo are finished by terrorists."

Other leaders accompanying Nyoro expressed concern over the persistent insecurity, noting that residents had been left vulnerable to attacks and theft despite repeated calls for government intervention. Nyoro also called on Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi to respect the High Court decision that invalidated the government's sale of its stake in Safaricom and return the funds to the government.

He criticized the planned appeal of the ruling. Regarding retired President Uhuru Kenyatta, Nyoro urged President William Ruto to stop attacking him, urging the current leader to focus on addressing the hardships faced by Kenyans. Nyoro advocated for opposition unity ahead of the 2027 General Election, promising a development agenda for Kenya and urging opposition leaders to unite.

He donated Ksh 200,000 to the families of the victims in the Gotu attack, calling for stronger security measures in Isiolo.
