Ido-Osun airport: Traditional ruler raises alarm over land encroachment

The Olojudo of Ido-Osun, Oba Olayinka Jokotola, has expressed alarm over alleged encroachment on land designated for aviation purposes by the government. This land, acquired in 1935, has recently been earmarked for the development of an Aviation City in Ido-Osun. During a visit to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, in Abuja, the monarch raised concerns about private individuals allegedly encroaching on the designated land and attempting to lay claim to it.

Oba Jokotola specifically warned against any attempts to interfere with the land, which he described as historically identified as part of the government's aviation acquisition. He also alleged that some individuals involved in the dispute had sought assistance from government agencies and security personnel to intimidate members of the community.

The monarch called for a resolution through the appropriate legal channels, emphasizing that his concern was the protection of Ido-Osun's interests and preserving government property and peace. He stressed that his intervention was not to deny anyone's lawful rights but to ensure clarity on the land's status and adherence to established legal procedures.

Keyamo assured the monarch that the concerns surrounding the land earmarked for an aviation project would receive appropriate attention, disclosing that the Federal Government had already allocated funds for the project in its budget.
