Nations League: Cole Palmer, Alexander-Arnold, Ngumoha, others return to England squad

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Cole Palmer have been reinstated to the England squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures against Spain, Czech Republic, and Croatia. The squad also welcomed back Liverpool forward Rio Ngumoha, Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, Newcastle United full-back Lewis Hall, and Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite, who had been omitted from the 2026 FIFA World Cup team.

Alexander-Arnold, who has not been part of the England squad in 15 months, returns after making two appearances in La Liga for Real Madrid. Ngumoha, who made his senior international debut in a friendly against New Zealand in June, did not make Tuchel's World Cup selection. Calvert-Lewin appeared in March but did not retain his place for the World Cup, while Scott is expected to make his debut under Tuchel.

Palmer's return to the England squad is a result of his strong performance in the 2026-27 season with Chelsea. England's Nations League journey begins on September 26, with a home match against world champions Spain, followed by matches against the Czech Republic on September 29 and Croatia on October 3, and a return fixture against the Czech Republic on October 6.
