Journalists' Syndicate: Sick and injured journalists in Gaza face harsh conditions and need medical evacuation

The Palestinian Journalists' Syndicate has denounced the grim and perilous circumstances faced by journalists and media workers in Gaza during Israel's ongoing war. The Syndicate highlighted the harrowing conditions these professionals are enduring in a dangerous environment, beset by shelling, displacement, deteriorating humanitarian conditions, and a collapsing healthcare system.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Syndicate emphasized that the dangers journalists face extend beyond the risks of death or injury while reporting. They noted that dozens of journalists have suffered serious injuries and illnesses that demand surgeries and specialized medical care, which are severely lacking inside the Strip. Shockingly, 40 journalists in the Gaza Strip are in dire need of medical evacuation for treatment outside the region.

The Syndicate stressed that the plight of sick and injured journalists, whose conditions necessitate urgent medical evacuation, has emerged as a critical humanitarian and human rights issue. This is particularly concerning for cases involving severe neurological injuries, limb injuries, chronic illnesses, and those requiring specialized surgery and rehabilitation.

The Syndicate warned that any further delays in treatment or denial of proper medical care could exacerbate the health situation of the affected journalists, potentially endangering their lives.
