Iran reconstructing nuclear test-linked Taleghan 2 site after IDF strikes, satellite imagery shows

New satellite images from Vantor Technologies reveal Iran's swift efforts to rebuild the Taleghan 2 facility within the Parchin military complex. The facility, situated about 30 kilometers southeast of Tehran, was previously destroyed in Israeli strikes in October 2024 before being partially rebuilt in May 2025. It was hit again in March 2026 during Operation Roaring Lion, resulting in significant damage.

According to a September 13, 2026 update from Vantor Technologies, satellite imagery shows Iran has resumed reconstruction work on the site. The regime has erected a tarp over the hardened, buried facility, likely to conceal the reconstruction activity from satellite observation or aerial surveillance. This assessment was reinforced by the presence of various construction vehicles, including dump trucks, bulldozers, concrete pump trucks, concrete mixers, and cranes, at the site in the latest satellite imagery.

The reconstruction project began in June 2026, with Iran's initial step involving the repair and placement of concrete caps over the penetration holes caused by the heavy bombs dropped during the Israeli strikes. Additionally, Iran has constructed a new concrete apron reinforcement on the right side of the facility, providing extra blast protection against aerial attacks.

The satellite imagery raises several questions about Iran's intentions for the facility. One key concern is the repeated rebuilding of the site, especially given its history of nuclear weapons research and development activities.
