IEBC shakes up county election bosses as 2027 poll countdown begins

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has reorganized county election officials ahead of the 2027 General Election. Acting IEBC CEO and Commission Secretary Ruth Kulundu published the changes in a circular, just over a year before the election scheduled for August 10, 2027. The reshuffle involves senior officers being transferred to different counties across the country.

For instance, Beatrice Muli has been moved from Kiambu to Taita-Taveta, while Hudson Salenoi has transferred from Vihiga to Turkana County. Rebecca Abwaku was transferred from Homa Bay to Trans Nzoia, and Reuben Mbuu from Makueni to Kitui County. Amosi Chilai, who was in Nairobi, will now serve in Kakamega County. The changes also impact officers in the Rift Valley and western regions.

Japheth Lagat moved from Trans Nzoia to West Pokot, and Grace Anyang from Migori to Kericho. Husna Hassa was transferred from Mombasa to Kilifi, and Zahara Hassan from Mandera to Wajir. Sheikh Abdi, stationed in Wajir, was transferred to Garissa County. Engor Emmanuel moved from Turkana to Narok, and Frank Boinet from Elgeyo-Marakwet to Baringo.

Sidney Namulungu moved from Kericho to Marsabit, and John Mwangi from Baringo to Kirinyaga. Saumu Chirchir transferred from Murang'a to Bomet County. The movement of county election officials is a critical step in the IEBC's preparations for what promises to be one of the country's most significant elections.
