Ganpati Visarjan Turns Violent? Mumbai Resident Alleges Assault After Objecting To Late-Night Dhol-Tasha

A resident of Goregaon, Mumbai, has alleged that he was assaulted by a group of individuals during a Ganpati Visarjan procession after he objected to late-night dhol-tasha celebrations. According to Advait Madkaikar, the incident occurred two days ago. Madkaikar first complained to the police about the late-night celebrations, and then proceeded to observe the procession, taking photographs.

One photograph shows a car and its driver. Madkaikar stated that the man in the car confronted him and demanded that he delete the photograph, despite Madkaikar asserting that he had not taken an inappropriate photograph. The man then got out of the car along with four to five others and surrounded Madkaikar. Madkaikar alleged that the group violently assaulted him, leaving him unconscious on the roadside with a fractured nose and bruises around his face.

He was taken to the hospital, where doctors confirmed his injuries. Madkaikar subsequently filed an FIR with the police station, providing photographs of the car's number plate and the alleged driver's face. However, he requested that identifying details be blurred while sharing them publicly. Madkaikar appealed against violence and intimidation during Ganpati celebrations, emphasizing that such festivities should foster unity rather than instill fear among citizens.
