Donald Trump claims son repaid Russian boxing chief Umar Kremlev for Bahamas wedding expenses

U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that his son, Donald Trump Jr., has repaid Umar Kremlev, the head of the International Boxing Association, for covering some of the expenses of Donald Trump Jr.'s wedding in the Bahamas. Trump made this statement on Friday, saying that he has hosted weddings at his Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida, for various individuals. Trump elaborated, "They get married, I give them a party." He further affirmed, "With all of that being said, I understand that Don’s paid him [Kremlev] back."

ProPublica had previously reported on September 14 that Kremlev had contributed to the cost of Donald Trump Jr.'s wedding in the Bahamas. A spokesperson for Trump Jr. confirmed the payment, describing Kremlev as a "personal friend of Don" who shared a mutual interest in boxing and the outdoors. This revelation has prompted Congressional Democrats to initiate an inquiry into Kremlev's financial involvement in the wedding.

However, U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche has not indicated plans to investigate Kremlev's role in organizing the event. He questioned the necessity of an investigation, asking, "When you say am I investigating – Am I investigating what?"
