Denver school board authorizes investigation into alleged use of antisemitic language

The Denver school board has authorized an investigation into allegations that Vice President Monica Hunter used an antisemitic term to describe a Jewish board member. The board unanimously voted on Thursday to hire an independent investigator to look into claims made by board President Xóchitl Gaytán and Superintendent Alex Marrero.

Hunter denies the allegations, which include Hunter allegedly calling board member Amy Klein Molk a "Zionist bitch" in separate conversations in December and January. This is the most serious allegation among a series of claims Gaytán made against Hunter and board member DJ Torres earlier this month. The allegations come amid ongoing interpersonal conflicts within the board, with some members also clashing with Marrero.

Board member John Youngquist attempted to limit the scope of the investigation to only the antisemitic language allegation, but this was overruled by other board members. The investigation will now proceed simultaneously with the other allegations.
