Dadah RM17.2 juta dirampas, 2 ditahan dalam operasi di Sarawak

Sarawak Police seized an estimated RM17.2 million worth of various narcotics during two separate operations in the region at the end of last week, according to Police Deputy Commissioner Zainal Abdullah. The seizures were part of a joint operation between the Bukit Aman Narcotics Intelligence Bureau (JSJN) and Sarawak police.

In the first operation on September 11 in Kuching, police seized 107,518 kilograms of narcotics worth approximately RM12.89 million. This included 50.1 kilograms of MDMA, 32.3 kilograms of ketamine, 25 kilograms of MDMA liquid, and 0.118 kilograms of Erimin 5 pills. A local 39-year-old man was also arrested at a house and is currently in custody.

The syndicate is believed to have been active since July 2026 and used a house as a processing, packaging, and storage location before the drugs were distributed around Kuching. A drug test of the suspect's urine samples found positive traces of methamphetamine/amphetamine, and he was held for seven days starting from September 12 to help with the investigation.

During the second operation on September 14, police arrested a 23-year-old man in Jalan Mendamit, Limbang. In this operation, police seized 84.07 kilograms of narcotics, including 81.21 kilograms of heroin, 2.06 kilograms of ketamine, and 0.80 kilograms of MDMA, with a total estimated value of RM4.3 million. The syndicate is believed to have been active since November 2025 and used a four-wheel-drive vehicle to transport drug supplies from Miri to Sabah via land routes.

The suspects were held for seven days starting from September 15 to September 22 to assist with the investigation. Both cases are being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
