Black Stars: Thomas-Asante, Adjetey, others dropped for September-October international break

The Black Stars 2026 FIFA World Cup squad has seen a number of players excluded from the 24-man selection released by the Ghana Football Association ahead of the upcoming international break. Coventry City forward Brandon Thomas-Asante, who assisted the Black Stars' winning goal against Panama during the World Cup, is among those dropped.

Another player, Jonas Adjei Adjetey, who was one of Ghana's top performers at the World Cup, also misses out. Adjetey, who played in all but one of Ghana's matches in Brazil, has only made three appearances for Wolfsburg this season. Thomas Partey, who returned from injury recently, does not make the cut after only playing two games for Al Shabab due to an injury.

Abdul Mumin, who was an unused substitute at the World Cup, also fails to make the squad as he continues to battle for playing time at Girona. Elisha Owusu and Alidu Seidu, who is close to a loan move to OGC Nice, are also excluded from the 24-man squad. Ghana will face Côte d'Ivoire on September 24, host Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium on September 27, and play Morocco in a friendly on October 4.
