Bhiwandi MP Suresh Mhatre Seeks Uniform Compensation For Alibaug-Virar Corridor-Affected Farmers

Bhiwandi MP Suresh Mhatre, affectionately known as Balya Mama, has raised concerns over disparities in compensation paid to farmers whose land was acquired for various government projects within the same region. The issue surfaced during discussions concerning the proposed Alibaug-Virar Corridor. Mhatre convened a meeting with Sub-Divisional Officer Amit Sanap to address the problems faced by farmers impacted by the corridor's development.

During the meeting, Mhatre brought up the disparity in compensation rates given for land used in the Bullet Train project versus what affected farmers are receiving for the Alibaug-Virar Corridor. He questioned how different government agencies could be assigning different compensation values for the same geographical area. Recognizing the crucial link between agricultural land and farmers' livelihoods, Mhatre urged the SDO to compile a comprehensive report and submit it to the District Collector to explore the possibility of achieving greater uniformity in compensation rates.

Furthermore, Mhatre addressed the issue of water bodies that have vanished in the Kongaon area due to MIDC development. He appealed for administrative help to restore these vanished water sources. Additionally, Mhatre suggested considering available land within the MIDC area for waste disposal, rather than allocating private land for this purpose.

The meeting also touched upon the demand for separate taluka status for Ambadi, a region less developed compared to Padgha but with a significant tribal population. Mhatre argued that granting Ambadi separate taluka status could enhance administrative accessibility and foster development in the area. A report on the ground situation in Ambadi was requested by Mhatre to be submitted to the District Collector for further contemplation.
