Armed robbers kill police officer in Jigawa ambush

A police corporal was killed in an ambush attack by armed robbers in Hadejia Local Government Area, Jigawa State. The Jigawa State Police Command confirmed the incident on Friday, stating that it occurred on Wednesday when officers responded to a distress call from residents about armed robbers operating in the area. The police spokesman, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, revealed that the ambush resulted in the death of one police corporal.

The Commissioner of Police expressed deep sympathy for the fallen officer and his family, emphasizing the risks officers face while protecting lives and property. The CP assured the family that his sacrifice would not be forgotten and conveyed the solidarity and condolences of the Inspector-General of Police and the entire Nigeria Police Force.

The Commissioner visited the crime scene, inspected the situation, and received an update from officers on the ground. He directed the DPO, Hadejia 'A' Division, and investigation units to intensify efforts to identify and apprehend all involved in the incident. The police command also pledged to enhance intelligence gathering, community engagement, and proactive patrols to prevent further crime and ensure the safety of the public.
