Abducted South African journalist found dead

Veteran South African sports broadcaster Owen Ndlovu, a former presenter with the public broadcaster SABC, was found dead on Wednesday after being abducted in a hijacking near Johannesburg. Ndlovu, 54, was seized while collecting his wife from a church in Katlehong on Tuesday. His body, with gunshot wounds, was discovered by residents the next day.

Police are investigating the killing and have launched a manhunt for three suspects. The vehicle he was driven in, a Ford Raptor pick-up truck, was later found abandoned in Walkerville, south of Johannesburg. Ndlovu was known for his work as a presenter and producer, covering the SABC's Premier Soccer League and advocating for musicians' rights.

The family is awaiting further information and described the loss as "devastating." South African authorities have once again highlighted the country's high levels of violent crime following the incident.
