Zaid gesa PAS bersuara, pastikan prosedur isu Tuanku Muhriz dipatuhi

Former Malaysian attorney general Zaid Ibrahim has called on the PAS deputy in the state of Negeri Sembilan to publicly support the issue surrounding Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir. In a Facebook post, Ibrahim stated that the downfall of a reigning government is unprecedented, and the Negeri Sembilan State Constitution has provisions regarding the relevant process.

He emphasized that PAS must ensure the law is followed; otherwise, Tuanku Muhriz would still be the Yang Di Pertuan Besar. The controversy over Tuanku Muhriz's status arose after the Negeri Sembilan State Exco declared the abdication of the monarch in April last year as valid. The exco claimed that the promulgation dated April 19 was signed and authenticated by the State Constitution and subsequently signed by Chief Minister Ismail Lasim on August 3.

According to the exco, this process made the proclamation complete according to Article 10(2) of the Negeri Sembilan State Constitution 1959, with Tuanku Nadzaruddin Tuanku Ja’afar now as the Yang Di Pertuan Besar. However, this claim contradicts the Legal and Constitutional Issues Department (DKU), which maintains that Tuanku Muhriz remains the Yang Di Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan.

State Liberal Party (Liberal) member Hassan Ab Hamid also contested the exco's statement and highlighted the importance of determining whether the investigation into the reason for removing Tuanku Muhriz's throne was conducted before the decision was made. The Negeri Sembilan government consists of two Perikatan Nasional (PN) deputies, Serting Fairuz Isa and Sikamat Razali Abu Samah, while PAS has three additional deputies.
