Who is on the training camp roster for the 2026-27 Maple Leafs
The list had 73 players when released Wednesday
Auston Matthews, the Toronto Maple Leafs star forward, is committed to remaining with the team despite recent changes and uncertainties. Following his season-ending knee injury and years away from unrestricted free agency, Matthews held meetings with the new general manager John Chayka and their chief advisor Mats Sundin. Both off-season and on-ice developments have given Matthews confidence in the team's direction.
Chayka and the front office made significant changes to personnel, tactics, and culture. Matthews, who has recovered well from his injury, is optimistic about the team's prospects under Chayka's leadership. With Hiller's upbeat energy and commitment to an up-tempo game plan, Matthews is excited to contribute to a team that can thrive with his scoring.
