Lena Dunham announces birth of first baby via surrogacy

Surprisingly, she noted that forming a friendship with the surrogate was the quickest decision she had ever made, even surpassing meeting someone at an airport terminal or a veterinary office. The op-ed detailed the moment Dunham met her daughter, who arrived 13 days late amid a solar eclipse and a meteor shower. As she sat on a hospital bed, waiting for her baby's cry, Dunham recounted the moment she first laid eyes on her daughter, gasping in awe at her newborn's face.

Dunham has previously discussed her battle with endometriosis and its impact on her desire to have a family. In her memoir Famesick, she detailed the challenging process of egg extraction during the pandemic and how her fertility loss had spurred her search for a surrogate.
