US to allow Iranian leaders to attend UN General Assembly

A University of Ghana study has shown that 74.2% of National Democratic Party (NPP) delegates anticipate former Subin MP Eugene Boakye Antwi emerging victorious in the October 3 General Secretary election. Conducted by a team of University of Ghana lecturers under the guidance of Dr. Chris Atadika, the survey encompassed the opinions of 889 NPP stakeholders.

Of these respondents, 657, or 74.2%, selected Eugene Boakye Antwi as the candidate they anticipated winning the position. Incumbent General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua garnered 25.1% of the votes, while Sylvester Tetteh received a mere 0.7%. The researchers emphasized that these figures represent the respondents' expectations rather than a reliable forecast of the election results.

The investigation also delved into other aspects of the contest, such as candidate choice, their perceived ability to assist the NPP in securing victory in the 2028 general election, and their name recognition. Notably, 76.6% of the respondents favored Eugene Boakye Antwi as their preferred candidate, compared to 23.1% who backed Justin Frimpong Kodua.

When asked about which candidate they believed could assist the NPP in winning the 2028 election, 60.1% pointed to Eugene Boakye Antwi, while 39.2% chose Justin Frimpong Kodua. The research revealed that Eugene Boakye Antwi enjoyed an 82.7% name recognition among the respondents, whereas Justin Frimpong Kodua had a mere 13%. Respondents also emphasized qualities like good communication skills, boldness, the ability to secure the party's victory in 2028, and the capacity to unite the party as crucial attributes for the next General Secretary.

The study confirmed that all respondents were aware of the General Secretary election. Led by Dr. Atadika, the research team plans to present the full findings to the media at the Department of Political Science at the University of Ghana, Legon. The NPP will choose its National General Secretary on October 3, 2026.
