US harvesting advances with corn 8% completed, soybeans at 6%

According to the latest USDA Crop Progress report, U.S. corn harvesting is at 8% completed, surpassing the 7% level seen in 2025 and the five-year average of 6%. Corn conditions are progressing well, with 86% of the crop dented, above the 83% from 2025 and the five-year average of 84%. Corn maturity stands at 42%, ahead of last season's 39% and the five-year average of 38%.

While some 6% of corn remains very poor and 11% is poor, fair conditions have decreased to 26%. Good quality corn has risen to 44%, while excellent quality has dropped to 13%.

Soybean harvesting is underway at a rate of 6%, exceeding the 5% mark in 2025 and the five-year average of 3%. The amount of soybean crop with fallen leaves has reached 44%, surpassing last season's 38% and the five-year average of 37%. Soybean conditions remain unchanged with 4% very poor, 9% poor, 29% fair, 46% good, and 12% excellent.

Cotton harvest is at 8% completed, slightly behind the 2025 level of 9% but equal to the five-year average of 8%. Sorghum harvest has reached 22%, matching last season's rate and the five-year average. Spring wheat harvest is 93% completed, on par with 2025's rate and slightly above the five-year average of 92%.
