Trump hopes Iran war nearing end as Houthi-Saudi fighting escalates

U.S. President Donald Trump expressed optimism that the ongoing war against Iran might soon come to an end, as the conflict, now in its seventh month, intensified with Saudi airstrikes hitting Yemen and Houthi forces firing drones and missiles at Saudi cities. The Iranian-backed Houthis' rapid advance in Yemen along the Red Sea and their assaults on Saudi Arabia, coupled with attacks that crippled Saudi Arabia's East-West oil pipeline, have expanded Tehran's influence in the war and heightened global oil supply concerns.

In response to the expanding conflict, the United States heightened its travel warning for Saudi Arabia, prohibiting government officials from venturing within a 20-mile radius of the Yemen border.

Despite the escalating violence between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia, Trump asserted on Wednesday evening, "Well, hopefully we are towards the end of the war." He reiterated that Iran is reportedly seeking a deal, but remained uncertain about its likelihood, stating, "We'll see how that works out," referring to Iran. The President also claimed to have received direct information from Iran, though he did not provide further details.
